From: Jaanus Kasema
Company: Retlar
Role: Custom furniture
”A large-scale project that allowed us to try out brand new solutions.”
Work & Approach
Producing unique furniture not available on-the-shelf: wardrobes, cabinets, counters, and bespoke solutions. Collaboration with interior architects included producing finalised drawings, precise measurements, client feedback, and final installation.
Material selection and final production proceeded only after client approval, with installation requiring the most attention.
Breakthroughs
Definitely a large-scale project that allowed us to try out brand new solutions. Key challenges were brought by strict timelines, extensive material variety, fresh solutions, and of course unforeseen technical issues – otherwise they would have been avoided from the get-go. That comes with the territory.
Takeaways
All problems can be solved with sufficient planning time. Addressing issues late is frustrating, and post-project corrections are costly. Clear communication with the client, continuous feedback, and openness to learn from one another are essential.
Facts
4× more material variations visible on facades than usual
Large and unique project with a team of over 25 people
40,500 screws, 930 m² veneer, 2,100 cabinet hinges
17.7 km edge banding, 3,900 m² panel material, 9,000 working hours
113 unique furniture positions
All furniture pieces are unique, in different colors and materials
